Life can often feel like an endless cycle, especially for women stuck in toxic relationships. As I’ve walked alongside women navigating these challenges, I’ve seen one recurring theme: pain builds walls around the heart, creating an emotional fortress that even God is asked to break through.
This pattern is common among many Christian women. They’re in toxic cycles, crying out for deliverance while simultaneously shielding their hearts. It’s a survival mechanism—putting on a brave mask, staying busy, and avoiding the pain. Yet, behind closed doors, their hearts ache for freedom and restoration.
The truth is, God doesn’t force His way into our lives. He stands ready to heal, but He asks us to take down our walls and invite Him in. Vulnerability is the first step. It requires admitting, “This is not the life I want. This is not God’s plan for me.”
God wants to meet you where you are. He hears your prayers and longs to bring healing, but it’s a partnership. Faith without works is dead, and part of the work is opening your heart to Him. Take the next step toward healing; admit your pain to God, and let Him in.
I've discussed on my Youtube channel about the moment I did that. It was after my first panic attack when I went to the doctor and was told that I was depressed. After first denying it to myself, I sat with the reality of my life in my toxic marriage, and admitted the truth to God. I was depressed and I needed to make a change. That was the beginning of my freeing journey that lead me here.
But it took letting down my walls. Refusing to keep "being strong" and admitting that I was in incredible pain desperately needing relief. Even if that meant letting go of the life I wished I had and my hopes of God fixing my marriage, and accepting that holding onto it was hurting me and my daughter, it was hindering my destiny, and it was stealing my mental and physical health. In order to let God in, I had to be vulerable and admit that I was not okay.
If you’re in this place, know you’re not alone. God has a plan for your healing and purpose, but it starts with letting Him in.
